Outside Contractors and GSD Logging

Hi, please see below for a message from Regina Stemmer, Chief of Neighborhood Libraries:

Effective immediately

Please accompany any outside contractor who needs access to the mechanical room or other controlled areas. Do not hand them any keys.

Attached is a form to use to log visits from outside contractors and GSD staff. Please make sure that any staff who are not a part of your unit log their name, company name, time/date and purpose of visit.

Thank you for your immediate cooperation on this matter.

Regina

I have also emailed this information to all staff members, with the log as an attachment. Since we already use the log, just be diligent in having all workers sign in and out on it.

Thanks,

sb

Staff Schedules & More!

Tomisha has added the November staff schedule to the blog. Please get in the habit of checking this schedule for changes to the monthly schedule.

We have also made it possible to view the reference schedule without a username/password. You can now just click on the link to view the reference schedule for the week. And, yes, I will keep it current now!

We will also begin posting the circulation schedule on the blog. I will let you know when this schedule is ready for viewing.

We will also create a calendar for meeting room reservations on the blog....coming in 2008!

Thanks to Javier for suggesting that we add the link to Black Board on the blog! I've also added links to Ft. Bend County Libraries, FBISD, the CHOICE website, and to all the volunteer paperwork.

Remember- suggestions for things you would like to see on our blog is always welcome.

Reorganization in the Children's Area

In order to serve our patrons better, all country books and state books have been shelved together right before the biographies. They are in alphabetical order according to country/state. In addition to the reorganization, all country books 10 years or older have been weeded. Also, the juvenile comic books have been moved from the entrance to the slanted shelves next to the juvenile magazines.

New Branch Blog!

Greetings and welcome to your new site for staff communications!

I am VERY excited to introduce our new branch blog to you all. We will use this site as a communication tool and will post things like monthly staff schedules, reference/circulation schedules, Incident Report forms, phone lists/directories, and links to popular or highly used websites such as the Employee Self Service site or the HPL catalog, etc.

The sky is the limit with our new blog, so please feel free to suggest topics or other types of information to put on it. Be aware, though, that all staff will have access to this blog. Please do not post things of a confidential nature.

Please bookmark this site and visit it often!
